Channel transparency
WhatsApp channel privacy
Effective September 21, 2026
This policy applies to the WhatsApp Business channel connected to Domus.land’s self-hosted Chatwoot installation. It does not cover other sites, applications, or channels that have their own policies.
Responsible party and contact
Domus.land is an independent engineering initiative operated by Domus.Land Team from Rosario, Argentina. For questions or to exercise rights over your data, email support@domus.land.
Domus.land does not yet publish a separate registered company name, tax identification, or legal address. If that changes, this policy will be updated before attributing processing to a different entity.
Data that may be processed
When you start or continue a WhatsApp conversation, we may receive and retain:
- your phone number, profile name and, when WhatsApp provides it, profile picture;
- the content of messages, replies, files, images, audio and other attachments you choose to send;
- conversation metadata such as technical identifiers, date, time, delivery status and source channel;
- data we add to handle the case, such as agent assignment, labels and internal notes.
Why it is used
We process this data to answer requests, preserve conversation context, provide the requested support, protect the channel and infrastructure, prevent abuse, and meet applicable legal obligations. We do not sell conversation data or use it for solely automated decisions. Promotional use would require a separate basis and communication.
Providers and access
Meta and WhatsApp operate WhatsApp Business Platform and deliver messages to the destination selected by Domus.land. Their own terms and policies govern their processing as platform providers and may involve international infrastructure.
Chatwoot runs as self-hosted software on infrastructure managed by Domus.land; we do not use Chatwoot Cloud to store these conversations. The software organizes contacts, conversations, and attachments so authorized agents can respond. Chatwoot states that a self-managed installation may send aggregate usage telemetry when that option is enabled; the state of that option in the Domus.land installation still needs to be confirmed.
Content may be viewed by authorized people handling the channel and by technical providers only when necessary to operate, secure, or recover the service.
Retention
Conversations are retained while a request is active and afterwards for as long as reasonably needed for continuity, security, legal claims, and applicable obligations. Domus.land has not yet approved one maximum period for conversations, attachments, and backups, so we do not publish an unsupported duration. You may request deletion, subject to applicable legal or security exceptions.
Security and transfers
We apply proportionate controls, including HTTPS, role-limited access, and credential separation. No system can eliminate every risk. Although Chatwoot is self-hosted, WhatsApp and Meta use global infrastructure, so the conversation may involve international processing under their policies. We do not claim one storage location while that fact is unverified.
Your choices and rights
You can stop the conversation or block the channel in WhatsApp. You may also request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or objection where applicable under relevant law. We may need to verify your identity before responding. To start a request, email support@domus.land and identify the number used in the conversation without sending passwords, codes, or other secrets.
Changes and sources
We will update the effective date when the channel or this policy changes materially. For processing carried out directly by providers, review their official sources.
